Catch a ride on The People’s Bus!

Participate! That’s the message on the front of a newly wrapped Chapel Hill Transit bus that features graphics to promote civic engagement and participation in community.

Inspired by the record setting numbers of public attendance in the Chapel Hill 2020 visioning project, the bus wrap was created to encourage continued interest, energy and participation in local issues and concerns. The wrap was designed by Melanie Miller, graphic artist for the Town of Chapel Hill, with input from the Chapel Hill 2020 Team.

“The People’s Bus” shows a cityscape scene on one side and a grouping of people on the other side. It drives viewers to the website that provides access to volunteer opportunities, ways to provide feedback to the Town Council, links to social media channels, and the Chapel Hill 2020 visioning project at

Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt is planning to hold a community discussion on The People’s Bus at 8:45 a.m. Friday, May 4, leaving from the Eubanks Park and Ride Lot. He invites residents to join him to discuss alternative transportation, bicycle issues and any other concerns.

“Participate! Transform your ideas into actions” is the slogan that appears on the doors of Chapel Hill Town Hall. The Council adopted a communications goal to build community through the highest standards of openness and participation. Read the Communications Strategy here:
